FROM STILL TO SOMETHING MORE
How to turn a photo into a GIF
Photo to GIF animation starts with one clear image and a small, understandable movement. This tool is intended to create new animation frames from a single photo. It is different from placing several existing photos into a slideshow. It can invent details as the subject moves, which is why the clearest starting images and the simplest directions are usually the most useful.
Upload a photo with one clear subject
Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP smaller than 3 MB, with at least 128 pixels on each side. A well-lit image, an unobstructed face or product, and a little space around the edges give the animation room to move. Replace or remove your selection if the framing is wrong. Only upload material you own or have permission to use.
Describe the movement you actually want
Select a motion and add a short direction. Try “a gentle blink and a slight smile, camera still” for a portrait, or “clouds drift slowly, mountains stay still” for a landscape. Ask for one action at a time. If you want the image to keep its photographic appearance, choose Original rather than a more stylized look.
Choose a loop and generate
Pick two or three seconds. A short loop is easier to read in chat and easier to compress than a complicated sequence. The free allowance creates a 512px watermarked GIF, once per IP per UTC day. Paid credits unlock 1024px originals without a watermark and can create ten related reactions in one set. A set consumes ten GIF credits.
Review the whole loop, then download
Check the eyes, hands, edges and transition from the last frame back to the first. Download the GIF for general sharing, or the paid platform ZIP for emoji, emote and sticker files. If you leave the page, check My GIFs for your saved task. A confirmed failed generation returns its reservation; an uncertain result is reviewed before another provider attempt.
SMALL MOVEMENTS, BETTER LOOPS
Make a photo move: what actually looks good
☺
A portrait: less is more
A blink, a small head tilt or a relaxed smile can make a portrait feel alive without turning it into a different scene. Start with a front-facing or three-quarter view and visible eyes. Avoid asking for speech, a large turn or complicated hand gestures in a tiny reaction GIF. A useful direction is “subtle breathing and a gentle blink; keep the face, hair and background consistent.” Inspect identity and expression before posting, and get permission from the person pictured. AI motion can still change facial details.

A product: reveal one angle
For a mug, toy or simple object, ask for a modest product turn against a quiet background. Leave padding so the outline is not cropped during movement. A slight turn is more believable than a full 360-degree orbit from one photograph: the model cannot know the hidden side of an item, and it may invent labels, geometry or surface details. Use the result as an expressive illustration, and verify every visible detail before using it to represent a product for sale.

A landscape: let one layer move
Choose a scene with an obvious natural motion, such as drifting clouds, rippling water or gently moving leaves. Keep buildings, mountains and the camera still in the description. Slow, continuous movement often creates a cleaner loop than a dramatic weather change or a zoom. Look for bending horizons and shifting architecture when you review the result. For a photograph with several moving regions, simplify the request to one region before trying a more ambitious animation.
AI photo animation is an interpretation, not a record of what really happened. A loop can be charming while still containing visual mistakes. For a client delivery, a recognizable person or a product listing, inspect the original-sized file as well as the small platform version. Tiny text and thin lines can disappear after resizing. A bold silhouette and a clean focal point usually communicate more clearly than detailed scenery.
THE RIGHT FILE FOR THE RIGHT CHAT
Make sure the file works where you'll post it
Use the platform version rather than uploading the largest original everywhere. At launch, the paid exporter will resize the animation, reduce its size and check the resulting file before packaging it. The table describes our conservative export profiles, including the file types each destination actually uses.
Conservative export profiles · 2–3 second loops · Slack up to 50 frames, Twitch up to 60. Profiles reviewed November 5, 2026. Platform rules and account permissions can change. Transparency requires transparent source frames.
Discord and Slack custom emoji use compact GIFs and require the appropriate server or workspace permissions. Twitch includes three manual-upload sizes for the same emote, and the channel still needs the necessary eligibility and approval. WhatsApp’s animated sticker format is WebP: use a compatible sticker importer to add the files. Telegram video stickers use VP9 WebM without an audio stream and can be uploaded through @Stickers. A ZIP makes these files easier to organize; it does not automatically install a sticker pack inside those apps.
Transparency depends on the pixels in the generated frames. Uploading a photo with a flat background does not promise an automatic cutout. If a transparent background is present, the export pipeline keeps it where the destination supports it. GIF has a one-bit transparency limit, so soft edges may become harder than they look in a WebP or WebM. Preview against both a light and a dark background before you publish a sticker.
Planned paid options include a $4.90 pack of ten GIF credits without a subscription, or Pro at $8 per month and $72 per year. Pro releases 100 credits each month; unused monthly credits do not roll over. Paid credits include no-watermark originals, matching sets, commercial use subject to input rights, and every platform export. A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS
FAQ
Before you make your first little loop.
How do I convert a photo to a GIF?+
When generation opens, upload one JPG, PNG or WebP image smaller than 3 MB and at least 128 pixels on each side. Describe the motion, choose a style and a two- or three-second duration, then generate. Download the completed GIF from the result panel or your library. Paid credits also include a platform export ZIP.
Will the person or product look exactly the same?+
Not always. AI-generated frames may alter expressions, fine product details or identity. Use a clear image with one main subject and request a small movement. Inspect the entire loop before publishing, especially for client work, product listings or recognizable people.
Can the background stay transparent?+
Transparent pixels are preserved when the generated frames contain them. A solid photo background is not automatically a clean cutout, and output transparency is not guaranteed. GIF supports hard transparent edges, while WebP and WebM can retain softer alpha edges. Check the exported preview.
What do free and paid photo conversions include?+
At launch, the free allowance will be one 512px watermarked GIF per IP per UTC day. A $4.90 pack gives 10 paid GIF credits without a subscription. Pro costs $8 monthly or $72 yearly and includes 100 credits each month. Paid outputs include 1024px originals, no watermark, 10-GIF sets and all five platform folders.
Are my photos public, and what if the task fails?+
When generation opens, uploads and results will be stored privately and delivered through expiring links; they are not published to a gallery. Do not upload confidential material or photos you lack permission to use. Confirmed failed jobs return their reservation; uncertain provider results are reviewed before retrying. Uploads and outputs are retained for up to 30 days.
